"Once Upon A Mattress"

Festival seating is available and admission price is a donation to our Youth Programs.  This show is appropriate for toddlers to adults.

Once Upon a Mattress is a musical adaptation of the Princess and the Pea fairy tale.  It was originally conceptualized and performed at a summer stock theater camp in 1957.

Due to an unhappy curse, King Sextimus is unable to speak. Meanwhile, his terror of a wife, Queen Aggravaine, has taken over control of the kingdom. Most importantly, in an attempt to keep Prince Dauntless single, she has decreed that only the princess that can pass her test may marry her son. Further, no one else in the kingdom may marry until Prince Dauntless does. Lady Larken and Sir Harry are extremely disturbed by this fact. Luckily, Sir Harry is able to find an amazing princess, Winnifred the Woebegone, princess of the marshland. She instantly catches the attention of Prince Dauntless. But will she be able to pass the Queen's supposedly impassable sensitivity test? Will "the mouse devour the hawk" and give King Sextimus back his voice? Will Lady Larken and Sir Harry ever marry?
