Kim graduated from Seaton Home Study School in July 2010 and is now a fulltime student at the University of Washington studying Speech and Hearing Sciences. Kim has performed in five (5) CSTOCK productions; her first production, Man of La Mancha in 2006 and her most recent The Music Man in 2010. Kim has worked behind the scenes in five (5) CSTOCK productions in the light booth or as a stage hand. She was a Director in Training for Jungle Book in 2008, a co-director for A Musical Collage in 2009, and a producer for Songs for a New World in 2010. She was also a student member of the Board of Directors for two years.
Kim feels that the most enlightening theatrical experiences for her have taken place not on the stage, but behind the scenes where viewing the shows from the light booth’s bird’s-eye-view or from the side-angle-view of a stagehand has brought a whole new dimension to the stage. She felt she could not only see the magic that takes place on stage but felt she like a fairy godmother helping to make the magic happen.
Kim lists singing as her specialty with classical songs as a favorite, along with an appreciation for jazz and musical theater. Kim continues to pursue that love as a member of the Univ. of Washington Chorale.
In Kim’s scholarship essay she quoted Eleanor Roosevelt, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” She characterized dreams as often becoming lost in the stress of reality and went on to say dreams are only mere ideas, thoughts, or imaginations until a decision makes them an action. Kim sees theater as the place where every thought has a purpose, every idea is a possibility, and dreams can make a difference in the future. She sees the stage as her second home and an escape from the stresses of life but also a place where life is so beautifully portrayed.
Kim stole the show this year by receiving both a Sullivan Scholarship and the Abundis Technical Scholarship!
Scott graduates from North Kitsap High School on June 11th and will be attending USC where he has been accepted in the Cinematic Arts Department. Scott’s goal is to put musicals back onto the film hot-list and hopes to one day produce and direct musical movies.
While participating in many aspects of musical theatre, using his dancing skills has been Scott’s most exciting way to be involved in productions. Scott has been the head chorographer for two productions at North Kitsap High School and Kitsap Children’s Musical Theater and has co-choreographed for 6 productions. He has had a wealth of dance performance experience and has performed in several dance festivals. Dance education for Scott began in 1999 At Irene’s School of Dance and continued at Bainbridge Dance Center from 2000 to the present. Scott was a member of Young Choreographer’s Workshop sponsored by Paramount Theatre from the fall of 2008 to the fall of 2009. He also attended the Fifth Avenue Theater Teen Camp last summer.
Scott also sings and plays the tuba.
Scott performed on CSTOCK’s stage in FAME this past fall as a part of the ensemble and as a featured dancer. Scott has also performed as an actor in productions at Bainbridge Performing Arts, Kitsap Children’s Musical Theatre and North Kitsap High School between 2004 and 2010; a total of 18 productions!
Scott’s experience with technical aspects behind-the-scenes has included working with the ropes, lighting design, as a member of a stage crew, and as a stage manager in a production at Poulsbo Junior High.
Scott characterizes dancing as a way to escape the stresses in his life. He commented on the immense amount of muscle needed and the self-awareness required to be a dancer and feels it is the ultimate test for anyone who wants to become a star athlete of both mind and body. When Scott performed in CSTOCK’s production of Fame he felt it was the best overall production he has ever participated in with no weak links and a strong work ethic in every cast and crew member….and it was a lot of fun! Scott sees that experience as the trigger for his desire to be involved in musical theater during college and for the rest of his life.
