2010 Laura Sullivan Scholarship Recipient

Colton Myers

$ 1000

CSTOCK is pleased to present the $1,000 Laura E. Sullivan Memorial Scholarship to Colton Myers.

Colton will graduate from CKHS on June 12th and plans to attend college. Although unsure of his major focus of study, Colton knows music will continue to have an impact on into his future. He has performed on-stage in over 20 productions at CSTOCK and around the community. He has also sung in choirs since elementary school and takes voice lessons.

Colton has competed in multiple Solo & Ensemble competitions and was a regional champion in 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. He has been a DIT and has also worked backstage for CSTOCK productions over the last several years.

At CKHS Colton has been an officer in Drama Club and ASB. He is a member of Honor Society and Key Club and has also been a Teen Mentor working with elementary-age children.

Colton has grown from the shy, “I’m afraid to audition” child to a confident young man at home on the CSTOCK stage or competing in Solo & Ensemble competitions. His success has given Colton and opportunity to make a name for himself moving from being “the little brother.”

2010 Ray Abundis Technical Scholarship Recipient

Billy Buhl

$ 500

Our 2010 recipient of the Ray Abundis Technical Scholarship is ….. Billy Buhl

Billy will be a June graduate of Olympic High School and will be attending the University of Washington. In addition to his course work he will be auditioning for the Undergraduate Theatre Society to continue his involvement in the theatrical arts.

Acting and dancing are Billy’s specialties and teaching dance and directing are two technical aspects he finds particularly self-fulfilling. Billy has performed in 17 productions in the last 5 years, 12 of them right here at CSTOCK. He has worked with lighting, has been a choreographer for 3 CSTOCK productions and was a D.I.T for The Jungle Book in the summer of 2008, co-directed Musical Collage and was one of three directors for our Black Box production of Songs for a New World.

Billy is a member of the OHS Chamber Choir and the Vocal Jazz Ensemble and takes private voice lessons. He is the Honor Society President. Billy also finds time to assist with fundraising for Breast Cancer and Prostate Cancer Research.

Billy sees CSTOCK as the rock during his growing up years …his home-away-from home, an avenue for expressing him-self, and the conduit for transforming from a shy 5th grader to an outstanding leader.

2010 Laura Sullivan Scholarship Recipient

Kim Gray

$ 500

The $500 Laura E. Sullivan Memorial Scholarship is presented to Kim Gray.

Kim has participated in the Seaton Home Study School Program and plans to attend the University of Washington to pursue a pre-law degree. Kim says singing has been her passion since she was old enough to speak and she plans to stay actively involved in theatre arts.

Whether performing on-stage or working behind the scenes on the light crew or the stage crew, Kim loves her theatre involvement. She has been a DIT, co-directed A Musical Collage in 2009 and produced Songs for a New World. Kim is currently a student member of the CSTOCK Board of Directors. She has also been a member of the CKHS and OHS Chamber Choirs and Jazz Ensembles.

Kim says her involvement in performing arts has taught her the value and the power of her creativity and has prepared her for a successful future. She sees the stage as her second home where she can escape the stresses of life and can be anyone she wants to be. She has realized she can make a difference, not only on stage, but in people’s lives and in her world. Kim also has learned first-hand that hard work can make dreams a reality just as a group of young people here at CSTOCK created a Musical Collage for the CSTOCK audience pulling together their talents, ideas, and creativity.
