Board Member, Ray Abundis, Steps Down

CSTOCK reluctantly accepted Ray's resignation from the Board of Directors at our December meeting. Ray began participating in community theatre after an invitation to build the set for a PAGSK production of Heaven Can Wait in 1991. He said that at the time he "knew nothing about live theatre let alone building sets"; but he somehow "weathered through" and the set lasted through most of the production! He was amazed to be asked to return and help with another show. In the spring of 1992 he built his first set at CSTOCK for a production of Grease directed by Sherry Knox. Since that point, he has been forever hooked on musical productions. Over the next several years Ray continued to learn about set construction, special effects, lighting, and sound. Ray says he has always been a Walt Disney fan and his active involvement in theatre has given him the opportunity to enter that world of imagination.

Ray was invited to join the Board of Directors in late 1992 and for the last several years he was vice-president on the board, supervising many aspects of set construction, theatre maintenance, and storage facilities management. Ray says that as a board member, he has been amazed at the fiscal responsibility behind each production and more amazed at what could be accomplished with limited budgets. He declares that over the years he has met and interacted with so many intelligent and talented peole, at times feeling like a sponge soaking up the experiences and knowledge they had to offer. Ray also promises to stay involved with the theatre and leave his occasional mark on future productions. He is already working hard on our upcoming production of Little Shop of Horrors, scheduled to open in September.

Ray thanks not only to the CSTOCK family for allowing him to be a part of their lives, but the CSTOCK patrons who have unselfishly supported CSTOCK through the years to make us a success and made his involvement with the theatre so rewarding with their applause and enthusiasm.
